How to care for your Mason de Marenci jewelry

Taking care of your jewelry will help ensure that it continues to give pleasure and delight for years to come. Precious metals and gemstones do not degrade over time; however, it is very important to store Mason de Marenci jewelry correctly.  Please make sure the metal and stones on one piece cannot scratch or knock against other jewelry pieces in your collection.

If you need to clean your Mason de Marenci jewelry, you should use lukewarm water and a gentle, glycerin-free soap. A soft brush can also be used. After cleaning, you should rinse the jewelry in gently running water and dry it with a 100% cotton soft white cloth.  If cleaning is too difficult due to the intricate design of the piece, we recommend bringing the piece to Mason de Marenci’s nearest authorized retailer for advice.

Please take particular care to avoid letting Mason de Marenci jewelry come into contact with mercury (it is often found in thermometers and some automatic watches). This liquid metal immediately binds to gold upon contact, penetrating it and combining with it, yielding a dirty matt silver color.  Over time the mercury can start to dissolve the gold, which can cause the gold to break, ultimately destroying the piece of jewelry.

Avoid any cleaning products even those specifically designed for jewellery. Many cleaners may contain harsh chemicals that could damage gemstones, metals, or their finishes.

• Proper care and maintenance of your jewellery is essential to preserve its beauty and splendour over time. One essential tip, although simple, is key: put your jewellery on as a finishing touch when you get dressed and remove it before undressing or when you take a rest. This small gesture ensures that your precious pieces remain intact.

• As we have previously highlighted, products such as perfume, hair sprays and lotions can affect the surface of jewellery, causing wear and tear and loss of shine. Also, everyday actions such as taking off a jumper can tangle a delicate chain or cause an earring to get lost.

• When shopping and planning to try on clothes, we recommend leaving your jewellery at home to avoid mishaps. However, if you decide to take them with you, remove and place them carefully, always checking that all your pieces, including the backs of earrings, are in place before you leave the fitting room.​
